Tongshwar Heavenly Stephen Dawap – Biography And Other Facts You Need To Know About Him

Tongshwar Heavenly Stephen Dawap was born to a family of Music Lovers, he is the middle child of Mr/Mrs Stephen Dazuk Dawap, with two brothers, Panshak ( Jay Z ) and Makplang (Godson). His mother Dorothy is a singer and a song writer, Tongshwar’s family are Christians and hence he was raised with high standards of discipline and moral values, his parents are farmers and teachers.

Self-taught on how to Rap and create music, Dawap started writing songs without the knowledge of how songs are written or produced.

Heavenly got introduced to Hip – Hop Music by his cousin Dyepshak Dawap also know as Wapson who bumps D.M.X and has many mixtapes due to his elder brother being a DJ in the village, Panshak (Jay Z) also influenced his early days of music with songs by The Game, Jay Z and Sean Paul. Dawap’s love for HIP HOP got deeper through listening to Hip Hop movement by Johnny 2 2 7 on Peace FM Jos and dubbing the songs on his Father’s radio tape.

 

Raised in Gindiri, Plateau State Nigeria, Heavenly embarked on his music career as a teenager after his secondary School graduation when he met DJ Wannie who is a church keyboardist, they started producing his songs on the church keyboard. Under the stage name T Dye, Heavenly started releasing singles that garnered local attention.

His first single “we ain’t out” was a song that showed his love for his city Jos and country Nigeria, it was produced by his new friend DJ Wannie, even though the song was not officially released it showed his lyrical ability and garnered local recognition.
Dawap’s first official single was “SAUTI”. He released more and had a lot of features.

YARON JTOWN was his first single to get an airplay in 2016 taking No.1 spot for two months on Jtown Chat Toppers with Steve Rwang Pam on Peace FM Jos. People started calling him Yaron Jtown and that was how it became his A.K.A and brand name.
December 29, 2016 Heavenly released  his first 8 tracks E.P “CALL OF DUTY” at his home town Gindiri with very poor sales.

In the middle of May 2017 Heavenly Dawap got saved on his way to Abuja with his CD’s to lunch, he gave his life to Christ and changed his name from T Dye to Heavenly which he adopted as his baptism name 7th July, 2018.
Yaron Jtown started to release songs under the Name Heavenly Dawap. “NO RULES” was the first single then “I AM NIGERIA”, “OH PLATEAU” and “GINDIRI“.

 

EARLY LIFE.

Tongshwar Stephen Dawap was born in Shendam LGA in Plateau state Nigeria on 23rd November 1991. Tongshwar his parents hail from Pankshin local government in Plateau State.

His father, Stephen Dazuk Dawap is from the Kapsang Clan of the Mhiship tribe from Chip and his Mom From the Mupun tribe from Randa.
Dawap’s first name was given to him by his mother as a prayer for him to stay happy and in peace with himself, Family and the Community, she said “without peace you can’t please God”. In 1995 at the age Four Dawap began to show his Music tendencies by singing out his high moments. When he was 12 he began writing songs without a mentor.

Dawap formed a Rap group with his Childhood friends ThankGod, Yesal and Stephen Called “T Bone Trash Boys” he writes all the songs but they couldn’t do anything because they lack motivation.
As a child, Tongshwar bagged his primary school education in the year 2003 qt college staff school Gindiri, as a teenager he attended St. Benedict’s Seminar and Convent Pankshin then he transferred and graduated at Boys’ Secondary School Gindiri in the year 2011.

As an adult Heavenly went to university of Abuja and graduated as a Theatre Artist in the year 2019

The young and  hungry to make it rapper had his first open street rap battle in the year 2010, in Abattoir Jos, Plateau state. Amidst lots of skilled rap contenders, he emerged the winner.

Along the music tussle, Heavenly came across a competition tagged Gospel Music Africa (a tv reality show) early January 2018

He auditioned and emerged one of the 30 selected contestants out of 54 countries involved.

He will be representing Nigeria in the reality show on starting on the 15th of October 2019 and will be airing on Faith broadcasting network DSTV channel 341 on the 20th of October 2019.
